Kuala Kubu Bharu KKB
Kuala Kubu Bharu is a fascinating small town located at the foothills of Fraser’s Hill in the Hulu Selangor region. Also locally recognized as ‘KKB’, the town started life as a mining colony in the 18th Century. KKB was initiallylocated between 2 tributaries of the Selangor River, but a enormous flood in 1883 destroyed the whole town. The town was then relocated to its current location on hilly terrain, surrounded by lush valleys, to prevent further terrible recurrences.
The Selangor river at Kuala Kubu Baru is located at about 1 and 1/2 hour drive away from Kuala Lumpur city center. It is one of the best and excellent place for White Water Rafting activities. With distance of 7 km, the riveroffers a rapid of Grade 1 to Grade 5. The water level however is very reliant on the weather and it is managed by a dam situated not far away.
Bentong is a township in Pahang, situated about 20km away from Bukit Tinggi. Bentong is one of two major gateways to reach Fraser’s Hill, and it is a frequent stopover for vacationers on the way up through the Karak Highway. It also attracts its share of visitors coming from Colmar Tropicale Resort. The town’s culinary reputation is expressed in an abundant collection of traditional hawker stalls and coffee shops ,especially a famous food street. Nature attractions in the vicinity include Lata Hammer,Chamang Waterfall (a nice cooling place to go for a dip and best place to go with family, to relax and soak in the cool splashing water from the high waterfall) and hot springs, all of which are situated in the outskirts.
The little township of Fraser’s Hill is a reflection of an English village in the countryside. A reward for visitors to have endured the long journey up through twisty hills. Holiday makers who wish to have a weekend gateway from the busy stress of their daily routine, would choose the Clock Tower as their first place to visit at Fraser Hill, leading off to important landmarks at different corners of the valley from a traffic roundabout. This clock tower is in the town it also serve as roundabout the first thing you meet as you make your way into Fraser’s Hill. This is a classic spot and a must to be photograph.
